Circus Dreams

Circus Dreams captures charismatic teen performers on a voyage of artistic and personal self-discovery as they fight to save Circus Smirkus, one of the best traveling youth circuses in the world, from closing forever. With a heartwarming story and great characters, this vibrant feature documentary is an inspiring testament to the power of youthful dreams.

Sometimes the easiest films to watch are the hardest to make.  Circus Dreams went through a long editing process in search of the right tone - was it a gritty verité doc or a fun children’s movie? Or somehow both? Eventually Signe cleverely settled on using one of the secondary characters as the narrator, which clearly set the tone as a kids film and allowed for greater brevity and simplicification where needed.
